I don't know why this is reviewed so highly. Read the chapter listings in the attached pictures; this book is nothing like the Boy's Book of Adventure, which is fantastic. It's engaging and has some fun tips, but it should be called the Girl's Book of Fashion, Makeup and Arts & Crafts. The very few-and-far-between pages that actually have outdoorsy/adventurous elements are so basic, they are not even remotely helpful. How about pages on primitive shelters that girls could build with their parents? How about ways to safely use tools and/or start fires? How about bios of great female adventurers and explorers? This one misses the mark.
i am a nine year old girl. i would rate it five stars except that it says no boys allowed and 100% for girls. invisible ink could be for a boy or a girl. a boy would love a secret number code, too! but it is a great book to learn new skills for a girl or a boy! but i do love it otherwise. and be on the look out for the boy's book of adventure! but also look out for no girls allowed and 100% for boys. i love this book.
My 10-year old got this book for her birthday, and absolutely LOVED it. We bought a 2nd copy for my daughter to give to her friend for her birthday, and she loved it as well. It's perfect for crafty/outdoorsy kids.
Got this for my seven year old cousin. Received a hand written thank you note saying she loved it so much she read it through recess! The design is very modern and cute, would recommend to any girl around that age.
pretty good "overall" general knowledge. my niece who is a "reader" ran through it in no time. As soon as i looked back, she had 6 "chapters" flagged for further pursuit
